FB: your full, in-depth 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bowl preview

Wisconsin plays Oklahoma State on Tuesday night in a bowl game. I'd honestly kinda forgotten about it!

Looking at the Guaranteed Rate Bowl media guide you are met on the second page with a triumphant image of Joe Tippmann lifting Skyler Bell into the air after Bell scored a touchdown against Nebraska this season. It was the comeback, rivalry win that clinched Wisconsin’s 21st straight bowl appearance and one of the few “high points” of UW’s season.

The picture is labeled “Wisconsin Senior Alexander Smith #11.”

Now, to be fair, both Bell and Smith are No. 11 on this year’s Wisconsin football team…but did no one bother to double-check anything in this media guide? Did no one from Wisconsin get to look it over before it was sent out? Has no one noticed yet…because here we are on Dec. 26 at 1:23 p.m. CT and the online version still has the picture mislabeled. I have never put together a media guide before, but I have misspelled and mislabeled things online before and it’s usually a pretty quick, easy fix.

In fact, one (or both) of my parents will probably message me shortly after I publish this with a note on something I need to edit. Who are the parents of the Guaranteed Rate Bowl? Is it the Fiesta Bowl and the Arizona Bowl????

Anyways, the attention to detail that was paid to the media guide for this bowl game is honestly how I feel about watching/writing about it. I just don’t want to put that much effort into it! I’m excited about NEXT season. Certainly more excited than I’ve been for a Wisconsin football season in years, but this bowl game has fallen on the back burner for me.
