WBB: UW's staff has sent out a flurry of offers this past month

Let's take a look at who some of these players are and whether or not Wisconsin has a chance at getting them.

The summer is prime time for high school recruiting in basketball as there are major tournaments all around the country featuring some of the best AAU teams and players out there. Robin Pingeton and her UW staff have been on the road over the past few weeks scouting and extending offers, so let’s take a look at who some of these players are and what they do best.

Class of 2027

Syniah Coachman

  • point guard

  • 5-foot-10

  • Fayetteville (Ark.) HS

  • MO Phenom Arkansas (EYBL)

  • Other known offers: Alabama, Arkansas, Hawaii, Houston, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, SMU, Tulsa, West Virginia, Wichita State

  • Rankings: No. 51 nationally, 4-star, 92-rating (ESPN Hoop Gurlz); ranked first in Arkansas by Prep Girls Hoops

  • Honors 2025: 6A West All-Conference; 6A West All-Defense; 6A All-State

  • Scouting report: A slender, slashing floor general, Coachman has a smoothness to her ball-handling that is pleasant to watch. She can finish through contact, but if a bigger/stronger defender gets in her way she appears to have a solid floater package so she can still score close to the basket even if she doesn’t get to the rim. Good length which will help her be a nuisance on defense. Plays like she has eyes all over her head and is able to find teammates even if they don’t look open. Solid shot, but has a bit of a low release point especially for a taller guard.

Sydney Savoury

  • shooting guard

  • 5-foot-11

  • Belleville (Mich.) HS

  • Michigan Crossover (EYBL)

  • Other known offers: Arizona State, Florida, Penn State, Cal, USC, LSU, Syracuse, Oklahoma, Virginia, Georgia, Indiana, Arizona, Baylor, Houston, Clemson, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Minnesota, DePaul, Marquette, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Xavier, Miami (Fla.), BYU, Texas A&M, UCF, Michigan State, UCLA, UNC, Kentucky, Pitt, Florida State, Dayton, Maryland, Iowa, Purdue, Harvard, Toledo, Notre Dame

  • Rankings: No. 15 nationally, 5-star, 96-rating (ESPN Hoop Gurlz); ranked first in Michigan by Prep Girls Hoops

  • Honors 2025: Division First Team All-State; Detroit News Dream Team; Michigan Gatorade Girls Player of the Year; Michigan MaxPreps Girls Player of the Year; Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan All-State; AP First-Team All-Michigan; led Belleville to 2024-25 D1 State Championship (first in school history)

  • Scouting report: Savoury’s stats on her Gatorade POTY page are, to be frank, almost unbelievable. Through 24 games as a sophomore she was averaging 27.1 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 4.0 apg, 3.4 spg while shooting 60.4% (!!) from the field and 48.9% (!!!) from beyond the arc. She is a monster on the glass, out-working bigger opponents until she has secured the rebound. She has good touch around the rim and is strong enough to finish through contact. Good looking, repeatable jumper. Can definitely be a secondary creator at the next level.

Marley Spiers

  • center

  • 6-foot-3

  • Clarksville Christian (Tenn.) HS

  • TN Sol United 17U or Lady Phenom United (Ky.); I don’t understand how their relationship works tbqh

  • Other known offers: Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Cal, Cincinnati, Clemson, Dayton, Illinois, Iowa State, Louisville, Marquette, Michigan, Mississippi State, Mizzou, Pitt, Providence, Rutgers, Sacramento State, Seton Hall, South Alabama, Virginia Tech, Western Kentucky

  • Rankings: No. 48 nationally, 4-star, 93-rating (ESPN Hoop Gurlz); ranked fifth overall in Tennessee (best center) by Prep Girls Hoops

  • Honors 2025: All-Area; State Champions

  • Scouting report: Spiers has been playing varsity since 7th grade and it was rather enlightening to watch highlights of her from a few years ago and then compare them to highlights from this summer. She has always been tall, but she now knows how to use her height more advantageously. She doesn’t bring the ball down low on rebounds as much and she uses her physicality to create space in the post to get a wide range of shots off. Spiders is an imposing force in the paint on defense and as she gets quicker and stronger she should develop into a potent rim protector at the next level.

Class of 2028

Belle Hill

  • combo guard

  • 6-foot-1

  • Mars Hill (Ala.) Bible School

  • Alabama Southern Starz (EYBL)

  • Other known offers: Alabama, Clemson, Fairfield, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Tennessee, Texas Tech

  • Rankings: No. 17 nationally, 4-star, 92-rating (ESPN Hoop Gurlz); ranked first in Alabama by Prep Girls Hoops

  • Honors 2025: participated in the 2025 USA Women’s U16 National Team trials; Super All-State Team (top-five players in Alabama regardless of classification); Class 3A Girls Alabama Player of the Year

  • Scouting report: Hill is a rising sophomore who scored her 1,000th career point as an 8th grader (Jan. 2024) so, needless to say, she is both a bucket AND a problem. Already standing over 6-foot, if Hill grows another inch or two she could be one of those jumbo creators that few teams have but every team covets. When she gets the ball in the paint she straight up bullies defenders until she gets a shot up. Hill has a compact jumper that I don’t think will be her calling card at the next level but will do more than keep defenses honest when she gets the ball on the perimeter. She is already getting looks for the US National Team, which means the Badgers probably aren’t long for this recruitment.

Lana Mannetter

  • combo guard

  • 6-foot-0

  • Westosha (Wis.) Central HS

  • Wisconsin Impact

  • Other known offers: Drake, Eastern Illinois, Green Bay, Milwaukee

  • Rankings: ranked third in Wisconsin (second at position) by Prep Girls Hoops

  • Honors 2025: All-Southern Lakes Conference First Team (only non-senior to make first team)

  • Scouting report: uses head/shoulder fakes to get defenders in the air; also uses pass fakes to get defenders to hesitate as she drives to the rim; has strange hitch in her shooting motion where she almost looks like a dolphin coming out of water as she lets the ball go, but I’d wager that changes as she gets older/stronger; runs too upright, making it more difficult to switch direction, but it keeps her head up which allows her to see the full court; fearless attacking the rim; great positional size and as she gets older/stronger I could see her as a ferocious defender on both bigs and wings; appears to have high basketball IQ; I like this offer as a bet on a young, in-state player to steadily improve that could commit before other P4 schools notice her

Meg Moore

  • shooting guard

  • 6-foot-1

  • Tishomingo County (Miss.) HS

  • Alabama Southern Starz (EYBL)

    From @megmo_24m on Instagram
  • Other known offers: Alabama, Charlotte, Georgia, Louisville, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, TCU, Texas Tech

  • Rankings: No. 52 nationally by Jr. All-Star Girls Basketball

  • Honors 2025: All-Division 1-4A First Team; 1-4A Mississippi Player of the Year; Capital Sports All-State Second Team

  • Scouting report: An unrepentant gunner (complimentary), Moore hasn’t seen a shot attempt that she didn’t think she could make. She is a lanky two guard who could grow into a wing and has a buttery smooth jumper. Moore is an assassin when spotting up from three and I even saw a couple makes coming off of screens. Rebounding doesn’t appear to be a main focus of her game, but when she goes for a board she is able to high-point the ball and battle bigger players for possession. I wouldn’t call her a lockdown defender, but she is opportunistic and has good positioning. Could work on passing/ball movement, but her scoring/shooting is already at a Power 4 level. If she reaches her full potential I see shades of another Mississippi native, Madison Booker of the Texas Longhorns, in her game.

Class of 2029

Kristen Winston

  • point guard

  • 5-foot-9

  • Hoover (Ala.) HS

  • Alabama Southern Starz (EYBL)

  • Other known offers: Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, Georgia, Houston, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech

  • Rankings: ranked first in Alabama by Prep Girls Hoops; will surely be ranked in the top-10 nationally once 2029 rankings come out for ESPN

  • Honors 2025: Class 7A All-Tournament Team; All-South Metro Third Team; State Champion (Hoover’s fifth in a row lol)

  • Scouting report: Winston has played varsity basketball for two years and won’t be a freshman until this upcoming fall. Precocious doesn’t even begin to describe her on the basketball court. I don’t want to heap too many superlatives on a player who just graduated middle school, but she not only doesn’t look out of place playing two years up in AAU, she looks like one of the better players in the gym. She has a tight handle, looks comfortable making advanced passes that high school seniors don’t regularly attempt, has a smooth jumper, uses her length to swat shots and disrupt passing lanes, and…well, let’s just say she is pretty good. To be blunt, this is a recruitment that a team like Wisconsin won’t be a part of for very long.
